CAVE TEMPLES
Kerala has a few cave temples made out of rocks. The cave temples are among the earliest temples of Kerala and they were built prior to 800 AD. The Saivite cult influenced the architectural style of these temples. The rock cut temples in the southern region are that of Pandya style while that of the northern region of Pallava style. Some are of opinion that the rock cut temples in Kerala were formerly Jain shrines. Important rock-cut temples of Kerala are:
